The Greater Southwest is our focus as we celebrate the wonderful diversity of our community and region, and the contributions of our faculty and students to them. This weekend is organized to coincide with the 2015 Tucson Meet Yourself Festival.

While enjoying the festival, visit our public exhibit highlighting contributions of School faculty, students, and alumni in areas such as the City of Tucson waste reduction program, the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Cultural Resource Management. What does it mean to be Human? Students and faculty in the School of Anthropology at The University of Arizona try to answer these questions - and many more - about our species. University Indian Ruin Open House and Tour

Friday, October 9, 2015, 3-7pm, University Indian Ruin

Visit old friends and make new ones as we celebrate Tucson's history and community. Through a tour and exhibits, learn more about this Classic Period Hohokam village, which was occupied between AD 1150 and AD 1450. University Indian Ruin is managed by the School of Anthropology for preservation, public education and the training of students. Visitors will even be able to taste Emil Haury's famous Wetherill Stew! Plus, back by popular demand, experience the School of Anthropology Field Attire Fashion Show, Part 2!

Field Trip to Amerind Museum

Saturday, October 10, 2015, 7:30am-12:30pm

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to travel an hour east of Tucson for a guided tour of the Amerind Museum and Fulton-Hayden Memorial Art Gallery. The tour will be led by UA alum Dr. Eric Kaldahl and will focus on the museum's archaeology collections. Vans will leave from the front of the Arizona State Museum at 7:30am and return there at 12:30pm. Cost: $50, includes transportation, admission to the Museum, and specialty box lunch.

Jefferson Reid (Professor Emeritus of Anthropology and University Distinguished Professor), Barbara Mills (Professor of Anthropology and Former Director of the School of Anthropology) and more!
